Nairobi, Sept. 13 — Thousands of Linda Mwananchi supporters flooded Nairobi’s streets on Sunday in a defiant show of political muscle, marching from a packed church service through markets and neighbourhoods to Jacaranda Grounds in open defiance of police warnings against gathering in the Central Business District.
At the heart of the rally was Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who used the platform to flatly reject any suggestion that he settle for a deputy role on an opposition ticket. “I’m no one’s number two,” Sifuna declared, positioning himself instead as a leading contender focused on transforming the country ahead of the 2027 election, and training fire on President Ruto’s administration along the way.
Sifuna was joined by key allies, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo, who stood shoulder to shoulder with him in a pointed display of opposition unity.
