Season Over for Charlton’s Sichenje After Knee Blow in Spurs Clash

London, Sept. 4 — Charlton Athletic have been dealt a major blow after confirming defender Collins Sichenje will miss the rest of the 2026-27 campaign following a serious knee injury sustained in the Addicks’ Carabao Cup second-round tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old Kenyan was stretchered off during the match and has since undergone surgery on the injury. Manager Nathan Jones confirmed the procedure had gone well but that Sichenje faces a lengthy road back to fitness.

“It’s a tough injury for Collins and everyone at the club,” Jones said. “He underwent surgery this week, which went well, but he’ll be out for an extended period. Our thoughts are with him, and we’ll be supporting him every step of the way during his recovery. He’s a resilient character and we know he’ll come back stronger.”

Sichenje joined Charlton from Serbian side Vojvodina in February and has made 10 appearances for the club since arriving, establishing himself as part of Jones’s plans before the setback. His absence leaves Charlton to navigate the rest of the season without one of their newer defensive options.
